Putting energy expertise into practice

Through the Steinbeis Transfer Center Energy Tech and Smart Grids, Prof. Dr.-Ing. Daniel Stetter brings his many years of experience at the interface between energy technology, the energy sector, research and strategic consultancy to the Steinbeis network. The new Steinbeis company in Ulm is dedicated to transferring expertise relating to sustainable energy systems into practical applications.

Daniel Stetter has been Professor of Smart Grids at Ulm University of Applied Sciences since September 2026. Prior to that, he had been a member of the Executive Board, as well as the founder and head of the Smart Energy and Mobility Solutions division at the Fraunhofer Institute for Industrial Engineering IAO, since 2016. From 2013 to 2015, Daniel Stetter advised the Baden-Württemberg State Ministry on matters including energy market design, grid management and energy costs. Prior to that, whilst working on his PhD at the German Aerospace Centre (DLR), he focused on energy system modelling and optimisation, as well as renewable energies.

The Steinbeis Transfer Center Energy Tech and Smart Grids translates this wealth of experience into concrete consultancy and technology transfer services. These include innovation and strategy development, consultancy on complex energy-related issues, and support for infrastructure projects from planning through to commissioning. Key areas of focus include smart grids, electromobility, renewable generation technologies, large-scale stationary storage systems and heating. The range of services is complemented by event management, facilitation and specialist presentations.

For Daniel Stetter, the Steinbeis Transfer Center Energy Tech and Smart Grids marks the start of a new chapter: he is combining his extensive expertise in intelligent and sustainable energy systems with the opportunities offered by the Steinbeis network to apply knowledge even more effectively in practice. Together with other Steinbeis companies specialising in energy technology at Ulm University of Applied Sciences, he now has the opportunity to pool technical expertise, initiate joint projects and capitalise on synergies.
