Special Prize Winner Prof. Dr.-Ing. Klaus Boelke
The jury of the Löhn Prize has awarded Prof. Dr.-Ing. Klaus Boelke a special prize in recognition of his many years of outstanding achievements in technology transfer.
Klaus Boelke studied electrical engineering with a specialisation in control engineering at the University of Stuttgart from 1962 onwards, successfully completing his degree as a Diplom-Ingenieur. He also remained at the University of Stuttgart for his doctoral studies: in 1977, he was awarded a doctorate at the Institute of Control Engineering within the Department of Mechanical Engineering.
Klaus Boelke began his professional career at the radiator manufacturer BEHR as a head of department. In this role, his work focused, amongst other things, on the technical requirements for automating air conditioning in passenger cars. In 1981, Klaus Boelke accepted a post at Heilbronn University of Applied Sciences and, for 24 years as a professor in the Department of Production and Logistics, passed on his enthusiasm for technical issues to his students. Since 2005, Klaus Boelke has been in a state of ‘restless activity’ and has been teaching at the Mosbach Cooperative State University.
In 1995, Klaus Boelke took over as head of the Steinbeis Transfer Centre (STZ) for Technical Consultancy at Heilbronn University of Applied Sciences, which, as the Technical Consultancy Service (TBD), had been part of the Steinbeis network since 1971 and was one of the first centres in the network. Together with fellow professors from a wide range of disciplines, Klaus Boelke and ‘his’ TBD have become a long-standing, innovative and reliable consultancy and development partner, particularly for regional and national car manufacturers.
Klaus Boelke has evolved from a specialist in his field into a ‘general practitioner’. He identifies any issues and finds the right people to solve them. Thanks to his selfless commitment and his consistently friendly, positive ‘persistence’, it is impossible – and one would not want to – resist working with him.
Steinbeis would like to thank Klaus Boelke for his successful collaboration as Head of the Steinbeis Transfer Centre for Technical Consultancy at Heilbronn University and for his steadfast commitment to technology transfer.
