Transfer | Collaboration | Added value
Successful technology transfer entrepreneurship requires tailor-made organisational structures. Steinbeis facilitates a wide range of approaches, offering the necessary degree of freedom and supportive services for entrepreneurial activity, thereby enabling our technology transfer entrepreneurs to focus on their clients and projects. Steinbeis is a strong partner for organisational management: this provides security and entrepreneurial freedom on a solid foundation that has stood for successful technology transfer for more than four decades.
Steinbeis offers members of the Stuttgart University of Applied Sciences (HFT) the opportunity to engage in entrepreneurial activities in harmony with their academic work at the university. Steinbeis supports them in applying their specialist expertise directly within companies. This knowledge transfer and the exchange of experience and expertise – very much in the spirit of ‘communicating vessels’ – drive progress for both the business sector and the university.
As an interface with universities and research institutions, Steinbeis has been working in a spirit of trust with the German higher education sector for decades. At the Stuttgart University of Applied Sciences (HFT Stuttgart), this successful collaboration has resulted in the joint venture Wissens- und Technologie-Transfer GmbH der HFT Stuttgart.

Holding company
Steinbeis stands for an entrepreneurial process of knowledge and technology transfer in which commercially recognised application and entrepreneurial action are of decisive importance. To put this fundamental principle into practice, Steinbeis has, since 1983, provided an organisational and legal framework within which a Steinbeis enterprise – which is not legally independent – can operate with entrepreneurial autonomy on the basis of a set of rules and a related contract.
The central holding company assumes the necessary formal legal sponsorship function for the Steinbeis company, thereby providing the organisational and legal framework for its activities. It ensures compliance with statutory and network-related requirements, as well as the exercise of the necessary powers of representation and signing authority, whilst operational, technical and economic responsibility remains decentralised with the respective entrepreneurial stakeholders. In this way, it combines legal certainty with the entrepreneurial freedom that characterises Steinbeis.
One of these holding companies is Wissens- und Technologie-Transfer GmbH der HFT Stuttgart.
