For more than 150 years, the hallmarks of "Generation Steinbeis" have been progressive thinking, pioneering spirit, and a flair for innovation. In the 19th century, Ferdinand and Otto von Steinbeis paved the way for modern manufacturing, training, and value-based entrepreneurship. In the 20th century, the younger Generation Steinbeis revolutionized the resource-intensive paper industry, bringing about “ecological transformation” and establishing one of the most modern recycled paper factories in Europe. The goal of the Steinbeis Foundation and Steinbeis GmbH & Co. KG für Technologietransfer is to continue this commitment entered into by Generation Steinbeis, not only to science and academia, but also to economic development.
Entrepreneurship is a central thread of the genetic code of Generation Steinbeis. But this code also encompasses extraordinary business models – like the Steinbeis Foundation for Economic Development, Steinbeis GmbH & Co. KG für Technologietransfer, and Steinbeis Holding GmbH.
A non-profit organization founded in 1971, the Steinbeis-Stiftung is a foundation for economic development. The Steinbeis-Stiftung forms an umbrella over the Steinbeis Network of approximately 1,100 enterprises, offering research and development, consulting, and expert reports across all sectors of industry as well as skills-oriented training and education. The foundation promotes knowledge and technology transfer through a variety of activities and events. It is also responsible for the business activities of Steinbeis GmbH & Co. KG für Technologietransfer, a wholly-owned subsidiary founded in 1998. Approximately 6,000 experts share their know-how through practice-oriented transfer between science and academia on the one hand, and business enterprise on the other.
