- The aim of the enterprise is to promote applied research. To this end, the company conducts research projects in its own interests, as well as contractual and cooperative research.
- The company is closely involved in setting up and running research institutes and similar establishments; the generation of scientific findings and pulling together the power of applied research with business practice; support structures aimed at helping scientific work and the evaluation of findings from applied research; collaboration with other research institutes in fulfilling duties; promoting the sharing of scientific findings through training and employee development in technical and business fields, or making findings generally available.
- The enterprise only pursues directly applicable not-for-profit objectives in keeping with tax-exemption sections of German fiscal law.
