Services

Work at the Steinbeis Enterprise revolves around business and scientific documentation and information systems, especially (although not exclusively) for applications in medicine and cultural heritage, offering the following services:

  • Systems planning and systems development for scientific and medicinal facilities, cultural institutions, administrative bodies, and industry
  • Advisory services for medicinal specialists and doctors on the use of modern, technical visualization and simulation solutions in diagnostics
  • Advisory services for cultural institutions on the use of modern, class-compliant data administration and portal solutions
  • Assistance with project management of domestic and international research and development projects (EU research programs)
  • Knowledge transfer (conferences, workshop, seminars) in the specialist fields of medicine and cultural information systems

Key Areas

  • Information management: The focus in this field of research lies in projects that do not so much overlap in terms of content but in terms of technology. Of particular significance in this context is the application of internationally conventional standards such as those encountered in the field of the metadata, ontology and interoperable information systems. We are therefore involved in process modeling based on international standards (BPMN, DMN, CMMN).
  • Medicinal computer science: Is this field, we research the extent to which meaningful 3D visualizations and flow analyses can be made accessible online to medical specialists using web-based solutions. Scope of possible applications within different areas: demonstration of mesh production, CFD simulation, and validation of CFD simulations for use in small medical practices at a justifiable cost. This may also involve issues regarding the integration of new technical diagnostic procedures into the workflows of clinical treatment paths and the use of 3D modeling and 3D printing.
  • Cultural heritage IT systems: Research and transfer activities in this area revolve around digital transformation, the networking of digital archives, investigation into the value chain of digital service providers, and the collaborative development of digital products. This typically also involves us in hybrid information systems, for example offering people visiting museums the possibility to access collections or relevant information in a virtual format (personal tour guides). Aside from technical solutions, our involvement in scientific debate can also entail the nature and development of new partnerships and the legal frameworks these require.
