The School of Criminal Investigation & Forensic Science (School CIFoS) | Institute for criminalistic is a research and training establishment for criminology in cooperation with the Steinbeis University. Its fields include professional investigation, forensic trace analysis, criminal strategy, and special leadership qualities in a comprehensive interdisciplinary field of research and practical area of application.

The projects and research work carried out by School CIFoS are closely linked to practical application and current research findings. School CIFoS is a leading institution in the field of criminology, not only developing new training and further education standards in its area of specialization, but also developing concepts for applying criminological expertise to the private sector in keeping with appropriate standards and methods. By engaging in collaborative projects and research, companies and institutions become actively integrated into processes, paving the way for tried and tested solutions.

Key Areas

The master’s degree in criminal investigation (criminology) is targeted equally at applicants working in public administration, investigative authorities, the private economy, and freelance professions.

In particular, training appeals to specialists working in corporate security, criminal and corporate defense attorneys, private and corporate investigators, but also investigative journalists, court case journalists, judges, public attorneys, police officers, and anyone with an interest in sociology and science.

Graduates can apply their acquired expertise to their subsequent career and work involving internal audits, fraud investigations, criminal defense, and corporate defense.
