Key Areas

Tourism and regional analysis against the backdrop of social mega-trends such as demographic change and climate change, taking tourist segments (e.g., health and cultural tourism) and regional aspects (e.g., rural or urban areas) into account. The goal throughout: sustainable development of tourist destinations and areas.

  • Impact of climate change on the state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern – focus on regional development/tourism (on behalf of the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Ministry of Economics, Employment and Tourism)
  • Needs analysis on Internet access of tradesmen in the community of Ostseebad Heringsdorf (on behalf of the Ostseebad Heringsdorf municipal authority)
  • Impact of demographic change on tourist destinations (on behalf of the public swimming pool association, Bäderverband Mecklenburg-Vorpommern e.V.)
  • “Health meets Tourism" in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern (backed through funds raised in the 2011, concept contest organized by the state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern)
  • Introduction of “Slow Tourism” including preventative health programs in the tourist spa town of Bad Bevensen
  • Bad Bevensen Vacation University – Unique: Health Education on Vacation in Lüneburg Heath
  • Support with the reorganization of the health network Cuxland Vital
  • Development potential of international patient tourism in Cuxland (district of Cuxhaven)
