Steinbeis Transfer Institute Berlin Institute for Society Research

Services

The institute aims to develop ideas for solving issues of societal importance by taking decision-based perspectives. The basis for this is a solid theoretical foundation as well as empirical methods excellence.

To this end, the institute offers research and consulting with a focus on problem-solving for all kinds of institutions involved in politics and civil society interested in potential solutions to such topics.

Key Areas

The institute defines itself not so much through its areas of focus as through its working principles (empirical, based on finding solutions, focusing on efficiency). Topics currently being worked on include reconciling competing career and family priorities, and promoting ethnic entrepreneurship in Germany.

Project Examples

  • Participation of children and adolescents (in partnership with public broadcaster ZDF and the Bertelsmann Foundation)
  • Project lasting several years on reconciling the competing priorities of a career and family
