On the one hand, PuMaX stands for a human-centered approach and methodology in public management (in the sense of public governance, public management, and public behavior) within the Darmstadt approach to a resilient and inquisitive society of responsibility.

On the other hand, PuMaX stands for systematic networking, cooperation, and collaboration among the key spheres of action — academia, government/politics, civil society, business, and nature — and is guided, among other things, by the Quintuple Helix approach to innovation and development.
